Title, genre, format (ebook, paperback):
(Book 1) Tom Stone: A Nitty Gritty Christmas

Angelino slips away as a mobster shows up and opens fire on Stone.
Word has it that a cocaine shipment is scheduled to arrive at the Port of Long Beach and Stone tracks Angelino there for the book’s climactic ending.
The storyline continues through
Book 2 Tom Stone: Sweltering Summer Nights and
Book 3 Tom Stone: Day of the Dead

My wife and I have children and grandchildren of a few different races, having adopted out of Los Angeles’ foster care system. The topic is worked into the Tom Stone novels.

And just a few fun questions:
Pen or Computer: Computer definitely, although I like to journal using a pen and cheap notebook.

Best writing snacks:
Grapes and an apple – while drinking coffee, tea, and water – sometimes all 3 at once.

Craziest thing you’ve done for story research:
Quite tame on this one, although I did have a nice chat with a guy who spent 25 years in federal prison for drug smuggling and my godson is currently in jail in Southern California. I’ve learned a lot from him.

Where can people find your book/story:
The Tom Stone series is available on Amazon and other online outlets.
We also have a short story Tom Stone: A Deadly Path – a father-son hike leads to a madman’s murder confession.

Holiday Book Boost Number 12

Hi Lesley, Welcome to my blog, I’m happy to meet you and introduce you to my readers. Let’s get started.

Title, genre, format (eBook, paperback):
Remember, Every Breath is Precious; Dying Taught Me How to Live. It is in the Spirituality Genre, is about my near-death experience. My book is in paperback and in eBook format. My bio follows:

“Lesley is a science-minded mystic”
Dr. Gary Schwartz,

“Aware of the immortal Soul, Lesley combines the training of a therapist, the brilliant mind of a CEO, and the gentle soul of a best friend.”
Jan T.

Lesley Lupo has been a professional Intuitive since 1994 and has worked at Canyon Ranch Resort since 1996. Her clientele includes TV, movie, music, and Broadway celebrities, politicians, royalty, and business leaders. She has a private practice with individual appointments and conducts the workshop Light Your Path: Cultivate a Life of Self-Worth in Tucson, AZ and takes individual clients at Canyon Ranch Health Resort. She has an upcoming book on her NDE titled Remember, Every Breath is Precious: Dying Taught Me How to Live. It is in both eBook and paperback.

Tell me about your book/story:
In 1988 at a dude ranch, a stampede of horses crushed me against a hay barn. With grey skin and lips “as blue as my jeans,” I was eventually declared dead. But I stood a few feet away and watched it all. My book narrates my experience with dying and returning, a near-death experience (NDE). This includes my journey to Heaven or what I have come to call “Upstairs,” my talks with Light Beings, and the help I received in my decision to stay there or return to my life on earth. People have questions about death, dying, and what comes next. Many are avidly seeking out this information. My struggles to blend this new knowledge, this wonderment of Spirit, with my human side born from my fight/flight instincts is documented and passed on for readers in hopes that they will use the information to elevate themselves. I have an outline for a workbook and e-course based on my workshop, Light Your Path and two spiritually based action adventure books for children. And a model for the boxed kit, Take Off Your Mantles, an exercise in releasing the hold that roles have in defining our self-awareness and connection to our immortal soul.

What is the one thing you’d like people to know about you (or, what is your secret superpower):
Hmmm… I balance my spiritual life pretty well, however, I am practicing non-attachment to my Chicago sports teams and most of the time, I can. Most of the time...

And just a few fun questions:
Pen or Computer:
Pen first, then anything else, dictation

Best writing snacks:
Chocolate, what else?

Craziest thing you’ve done for story research:
Hahaha, get run over by a stampede of horses.

Where can people find your book/story:
Amazon, Barnes and Noble, online.

Any links and/or pictures you want to share:

Holiday Book Boost Number 11

Hi Dianna, Welcome to my blog, I’m happy meet you and introduce you to my readers. Let’s get started.

Title, genre, format (ebook, paperback):
Moonshadow's Guardian is a dark fantasy novel for adults, and you can find it in both ebook and paperback formats.

Tell me about your book/story:
I'm still bad at deciding what constitutes a spoiler in my own work, so let's stick with the blurb:
All Riana has ever wanted is freedom. Unfortunately, that’s the one thing her kind cannot have.

Bound by the curse in her demonic blood for millennia, Riana has tried several times to bend the rules and live out her life in the mortal realm. Now her consistent rule breaking has drawn the attention of Loki, God of Mischief, the main tormentor of Riana’s kind. But instead of punishing her, he offers her the escape she has always desired. All she has to do to is save the kingdom of Moonshadow from a mysterious magical plague.

Armed only with the inherent power of her own blood and Loki’s pet dragon, Riana is determined to fight for the right to create her own destiny.

However, when her mission forces her to destroy the last remnants of an ancient culture, Riana must ask – what is freedom really worth?

Moonshadow’s Guardian is a tale about the meaning of belonging, and the struggle to create a future not defined by your past.

What is the one thing you’d like people to know about you (or, what is your secret superpower):
Writing isn't the only art form I love! I don't get to do them much but I'm also a huge fan of painting and acting, especially improv.

And just a few fun questions:
Pen or Computer:
Both! I do all my worldbuilding on paper, and my actual drafting on the computer.

Best writing snacks:
Almonds! And other nuts.

Craziest thing you’ve done for story research:
I… Honestly don't know. I suppose in a way the improv classes I did were research – learning how to get into a character's head fast – so probably those?

Holiday Book Boost Number 10

Hi Trudi, Welcome to my blog, I’m happy meet you and introduce you to my readers. Let’s get started.

Title, genre, format (ebook, paperback):
Explorer Academy Book 1: The Nebula Secret, published by National Geographic
middle grade fiction (for ages 8 to 12)
hardcover, e-book, audiobook
Translated into 18 languages, so far

Tell me about your book/story:
In my fact-based fiction series, twelve-year-old Cruz Coronado has been invited to become part of an elite group of young explorers at the prestigious Academy in Washington, D.C. Yet, even before Cruz can leave his tranquil home in Hawaii, an attempt is made on his life. Things only get more complicated, and dangerous, when Cruz arrives in the nation's capital to attend the Academy. Someone wants him dead and it may involve a secret his mom (a scientist) took with her to the grave seven years ago. Cruz and his fellow explorers must travel the globe, following clues and cracking codes to unlock a mystery that could change their world, and ours, forever. Readers should know there are hidden codes and puzzles embedded throughout the book. For me, it was a joy to meet and interview the real explorers of National Geographic, who served as inspiration for much of the science and technology in the series.

What is the one thing you’d like people to know about you (or, what is your secret superpower):
I’m a writer of middle grade fiction because middle school was a tough time for me. I was a brainy, awkward, and shy kid. Young readers tend think we authors just sailed through our tween years, but it isn’t true – at least, it wasn’t for me. So if I can make it a bit easier for a reader, if he/she can find something to identify with in my books, then that’s all the reward I need. And maybe it’s my superpower, too!

And just a few fun questions:
Pen or Computer:
Both! Computer to write, but a pen to scribble down ideas as they come to me.

Best writing snacks:
Ghirardelli big semi-sweet chocolate chips, organic grapes, Kind peanut butter bars!

Craziest thing you’ve done for story research:
In Scab for Treasurer, the third book in the Secrets of a Lab Rat series, the main character, Scab, is vying against the smartest girl in school to be class president. As a publicity stunt to win votes, he promises to eat anything his classmates bring to school. So in order to know what it would feel like for Scab to down some pretty icky things, of course, I had to try them first. I ate stuff like raw pumpkin, ancient fruitcake, and a habanero chili pepper, which is fifty times hotter than a jalapeño!

Where can people find your book/story:
It’s available from your favorite local independent bookstore, Barnes & Noble, IndieBound, Amazon, or at the National Geographic online store.

Any links and/or pictures you want to share:
Head to my website for more details about the series: www.truditrueit.com
Also, check out the Explorer Academy website, where you can read the first chapter of the book, watch a five-minute cartoon short featuring the main characters, see the book trailer, play code breaking games, and learn about the science that inspired the book. You can also enter the Explorer Academy sweepstakes! To help launch the series, National Geographic is giving away an eight-day National Geographic cruise for a family of four through Alaska’s Inside Passage! www.exploreracademy.com

Thank you!
You are so welcome, Lynn. Thank you!

Holiday Book Boost Number 9

Hi Caitlin, Welcome to my blog, I’m happy meet you and introduce you to my readers. Let’s get started.

Title, genre, format (ebook, paperback):
Secrets, Lies, and Shoelaces, memoir; ebook and paperback
Hunting Charles Manson, true crime-biography; hardcover, ebook, and audio

Tell me about your book/story:
Secrets, Lies, and Shoelaces: When I first met Rich Rose, I could see in his eyes that he had secrets. I just had no idea how twisted and deep they were—or that he was a closet alcoholic—until after we were married. As I got to know him, he proved to be a very kind, generous, and ambitious man, with a huge heart that was quick to love. I was drawn to his love for me and his passion for passion. But tying the knot did not help my feelings grow, resolve any of our fears, or fulfill our hopes and dreams of a life together. It only made things worse. Alcohol-fueled conflict drove us into counseling shortly into the marriage, where the therapist privately diagnosed Rich with borderline personality disorder, but made me promise to keep that a secret from him. That is just one of the difficult chapters in my marriage to this troubled man, who took me on a roller coaster ride of self-doubt, crisis management, and constant chaos, 911 calls, suicidal threats, a trip to the psych hospital, and a life-threatening bout of domestic violence. Years later, I’ve managed to learn and heal from this tragic series of events, to achieve a healthy, happy balance in my life, and to apply my insights and experiences to my career as a true crime author. This is yet another type of #Metoo tale, which I hope will be eye-opening for many women—and men as well—underscoring the message that even strong, accomplished women can find ourselves in these crazy-making situations. This cautionary and hopefully inspirational tale is aimed at readers who are in relationships with alcoholics or drug users, or have loved ones who are and want to help. I wrote this story with the hope that such people will recognize themselves in my story, find the strength to leave before it’s too late, before they get hurt, or worse, killed. I also want them to know that in the long run, they can find happiness in a healthier relationship. After years of healing and recovery, I know that I have found my own happy ending.

Hunting Charles Manson (co-authored with Lis Wiehl): You might think you know everything there is to know about Charles Manson or the Manson Family because you’ve already read Helter Skelter. But keep in mind that that book was published way back in 1974. By approaching this as a cold case, reviewing the original source materials, and purposefully searching for new information to advance the story, we were able to uncover quite a lot of new details about Manson and this case. Manson died right before this book was published, his co-defendants released new accounts as they were fighting for their freedom at recent parole hearings, and his grandson was vying with others to win the court battle over Manson’s remains and estate.

What is the one thing you’d like people to know about you (or, what is your secret superpower):
I really enjoy digging deep into the research for my books, but it takes a long time to do a thorough job. Once I uncover all the juicy details, and figure out how to best to tell the story, the writing comes more easily. Secrets, my memoir, is not my typical fare, because I actually lived this story. For that reason, it took me 19 years to find the answers, and then the courage to publish it. Hunting (true crime-biography) is my usual genre, so if you’ve read any of my other books, or are a true crime fan, you should like this one just as much.

And just a few fun questions:
Pen or Computer: Ideas by pen and paper. Writing and rewriting on the computer. Editing first with paper and pen, then changes entered on computer.
Best writing snacks: A mix of green/peach chamomile tea, mixed nuts, and celery sticks.
Craziest thing you’ve done for story research: Sit inside a locked visiting cage at San Quentin Prison with Skylar Deleon, a transgender killer (wearing no handcuffs or shackles), who was on death row for killing three people. The guards were outside the cage somewhere, but if Skylar had stabbed me in the neck with my pen (which I pictured while we were in the cage), I’m sure it would have been too late by the time one of them ran over to unlock the cage and help me.

Holiday Book Boost Number 8

Hi, Barbara, welcome to my blog. I'm happy to introduce you to my readers. Let's get started.

Title, genre, format (ebook, paperback):

"The Christmas Miracle" is a love story with a twist.  It's not really romantic suspense but more a love story with thriller elements. The link will take readers to the e-version but it is also available in paperback.

Tell me about your book/story:

This is the story of Peter Travis. A character I created back in 2002. I didn’t publish the first book, “My Love is Deep” until 2015. in that year, I wrote books two and three. This year, I wanted to revisit him, and you will hold between your hands, his final chapter.  It is a story about love, loss, tragedy and forgiveness, full of suspense and a villain, too, likening it more a thriller.  I thank the readers for following me on this incredible journey. This book reads as a stand-alone novel and whether you have read the previous books in this series or not, I hope you will enjoy a little liaison with Peter, and that you will take away the message of love attached to this book and carry it with you all year long.

What is the one thing you’d like people to know about you (or, what is your secret superpower):

People should know that I think love is the most remarkable magic.  Even my horror novels include love.

And just a few fun questions:

Pen or Computer: Computer

Best writing snacks: Hickory Sticks!

Craziest thing you’ve done for story research: I let my fingers do the walking on Google!

Where can people find your book/story: Available at all online retailers.  Amazon, Kindle, Kobo, Apple, Nook.

Holiday Book Boost Number 7

Hi Danielle, Welcome to my blog, I’m happy meet you and introduce you to my readers. Let’s get started.

Title, genre, format (ebook, paperback):
Title: Fateful Voyage
Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance
Format: ebook and paperback

Tell me about your book/story:
A terminally ill heiress trying to make the most of what little time she has left and a suave mobster on the run from the executioner’s electric chair, meet and fall in love on a trans-pacific crossing from San Francisco to Tokyo, each without knowing the other’s tragic secret. Little do they know, they are each journeying toward their doomed fate while cheerfully masquerading under ballroom lights, breezy late-night dinners, cocktail conversations, and a whirlwind shore excursion in Hawaii. Along the way, they encounter a cast of characters who help bring them together and who seek to drive them apart. Communicating their inner most thoughts and desires through letters slipped under each other’s cabin door, their bond becomes deeper than anything that they have ever known. The clock is ticking… they have weeks to find happiness in each other’s arms.

What is the one thing you’d like people to know about you (or, what is your secret superpower):
I’m really good at reading people. I am usually able to tell exactly what kind of personality people have just by looking at them. I'd say I'm a good judge of character and I’m rarely ever wrong.

And just a few fun questions:
Pen or Computer:
I’m totally old-school and loathe technology. The only reason I use any form of technology is because I’ve been dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming. It’s pen and paper for me all the way!

Best writing snacks:
I don’t eat while I write but, I do like to write in my jammies and fuzzy socks in bed!

Craziest thing you’ve done for story research:
I haven’t done anything crazy for research…yet. But, the search history on my computer reads like I’m a crazy serial killer. My latest Google search was on how autopsies are conducted and how dead bodies are embalmed (don’t even ask).

Where can people find your book/story:
